Winrar were often used for compressing larger multimedia files such as movie and games. This method allows the downloader to download a smaller size of file at one time which makes the download process faster.
In some situation we wanted our file to be safe and only can be access by us. Well WinRAR allows us to put a password to our compressed file to make it more secure. Whit this, incorrect password will decline any decompress process to be done within the files. WinRar supports NTFS extended file attributes, file security and NTFS data streams for accurate backup. WinRar also supports Unicode international characters in file names. It also provides functionality for creating a ’solid’ archive, which can raise the compression ratio by 10% - 50% over more common methods, particularly when packing large numbers of small files.
With WinRAR, we can incorporate into a recovery record of the file size to protect the files against any damage that may occur after the compressed process. This redundant information can then be used to attempt repair of a damaged file, which would hopefully lead to salvaging most or all of the contents. As well known, viruses and worms can infiltrate your computer easily by hiding through compressed files. For an added level of protection, the application can also call your anti-virus software to scan compressed files. However, archives are not scanned automatically when they are decompressed — you must explicitly select the option to do so in advance.
